A Press Release from the EDRM.
As the release states, "ARMA International and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) announced today the formation of an alliance to focus on helping organizations understand the importance of overall information governance, the benefits it provides and how to begin the process of achieving it.
Both organizations have made considerable contributions to raise awareness of information governance issues. ARMA International has recognized the need by developing the GARP ® maturity model. EDRM has recognized the need by developing the Information Governance Reference Model (IGRM), an entirely new reference model separate and distinct from the model developed specifically for electronic discovery. Working together these two globally recognized and highly respected groups will collaborate on initiatives to help organizations address policies and practices.
“Content is growing at an ever increasing rate of speed. Electronically Stored Information (ESI) can be found in many different repositories and in many different formats. There is a significant need for a road map organizations can use to begin to get their house in order” said Galina Datskovsky, President of ARMA International."
The release goes on to provide further interesting info regarding this positive development. Joe Bartolo, J.D. of this blog is a past working group leader in the EDRM and remains an avid supporter of the efforts put forth by the EDRM.
