http://ow.ly/6x790An article by Mary Jo Zandy, Berkery Noyes & Co. posted on sandhill.com.
This article discusses the recent trend of mergers and acquisitions that has taken place within the eDiscovery field.
As the article states, "...it's no surprise either that the e-discovery space is gaining prominence around the mergers and acquisitions market. In fact, with the multiples on recent e-discovery M&A transactions exceeding prior peaks, it's clear the space is attracting new, well-capitalized players. Underlying this activity is a powerful combination of double-digit revenue growth and a discernible trend towards comprehensive e-discovery information management solutions. As the amount of electronic stored information, or ESI, spirals upward, aggregate e-discovery software and services revenue could surpass $6 billion by the end of 2013."
The article references several major recent events, and speculates about possible future acquisitions of eDiscovery service providers. Many of the top eDiscovery providers are mentioned in the article.
The article touches on the recent acquisition of Clearwell by Symantec. Joe Bartolo, J.D., one of the authors of this blog just attended a Clearwell Partner Summit that concluded on Friday, September 16th, in San Francisco. This event certainly seemed to indicate that Symantec has big plans to help Clearwell grow, and to integrate Clearwell into Symantec's existing enterprise solutions.
P.S. This is an exciting time for the eDiscovery industry, as there are major corporations such as HP, Google, IBM, and Bloomberg that are seeking to establish a presence in this market.
