Subordinate Isolation Policy


Dear Sir,

I visited your blog http://hssthistory.blogspot.com & found it helpful.
I am an UPSC aspirant & have to cover modern India for my GS paper.
I need to know what was Subordinate Isolation Policy of British (& why it was called so, what sort of Isolation???)
Also, what was the Subordinate Union Policy of British (& why it was called so???)
I have surfed internet but am not finding any satisfactory answer.
It would be a great help if you can enlighten me.

Subordinate Isolation Policy
Dear,we can devide the relationshp between Britain and various indian states into 5 stages.
1-The policy of equality wid indian states1740-1765.
2-The policy of Ring fence ..1765-1816.
3-policy of subordinate isolation 1813 1857. Durng this time theory of paramountcy
come into being.They started to expand itz territories by annexing new states.A british resident was appointed.it continud under william bentick and lord aukland,and delhousi.
4-Fourth stage is policy of subordinate union between 1857 to 1935.End of annexation policy and introduction of royal title act.Policy of interfence in the internal
affairs of d state was also there.Vigilant control & policy of cordial cooperation were the other features of the time since 1905.Chamber of princes.
5-Fifth stage is the policy of equal federation 1935-1947.
