ENTERTAINER Vybz Kartel's shot at freedom was yesterday delayed after his bail application was postponed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The expected application had to be called off because the attorneys in the case were not served with all the documents in the case — especially the audio and video recordings that the prosecution said it has in its possession in relation to the August 16 murder of Clive Williams, alias 'Lizard'.
Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey gave the prosecution until December 15 to serve the video and audio recordings to the defence in time for the next mention date of the December 19. A date for a bail application is expected to be set at that time.
Charged along with Kartel for Williams' murder are deejay Shawn Campbell, alias 'Shawn Storm'; fashion designer Calvin Haye, and Cairo Jones.
Yesterday, the court was told that another man is expected to be joined with the four.
Kartel, who was arrested on September 30, on Thursday drew a step closer to being released from jail when he was offered bail in sum of $3 million when he appeared in the Supreme Court on another charge. That application was made in chambers after Magistrate Opal Smith refused him bail last month in relation to the murder of Gregory Park, St Catherine resident Barrington 'Bossie' Bryan. Kartel is also facing charges of conspiracy to murder, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of ganja stemming from the same incident.
The deejay, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is to appear before the magistrate's court on December 21 in relation to this matter. There is also a tentative preliminary enquiry date of February 3, 2012.
