An interesting  and penetrating seminar on “problems in the social science teaching “was held at Kapilavastu,the home of eminent historian Dr.K N Ganesh Sir on 9^thSeptember 2012.

Whole day was an highly effective one because of  the active participation of the history teachers from the different colleges of calicut university .

Seminar was chaired by KNG who shared current issues and proplems prevailing in the social science teaching.He raised the importance of creating a debating environment inside and outside the class room which may contribute much in stimulating the students in the path of social science teaching and learning.Dr.KNG also analysed the factors which widened the scope of social science studies like IAS exam,Cbsc text book adaptations by the states,NET exams,Political interference in the text book curriculam,restructuring of ugc net  etc.

AS a teacher,one should promote self learning process especially outside class room as learning of facts and one interpretations still persits on academic circles.So instead of teaching one interpretation ,teachers should make the student to interpret  different issues  in their own way.This interpretations may explore further studies in research .So like the technique of elimination while answering the objective type questions should  be emphasised inside the class room.

It is also decided to conduct next seminar on the “problems in the project preparations” ,at Arts Collge Calicut on next month.Dr.PP Abdul Razack of Psmo college gave vote of thanks to the participants.
