Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay, Michael Troupe and his son Jevaughn Troupe have been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Troupe and his son were taken into custody on Wednesday during an early morning raid at his home in Granville , St. James.
The police said an illegal firearm, five motor vehicles, J$380,000 and US$10,000 were seized during the operation.
Troupe was re-elected on the People’s National Party ticket in the March Local Government polls.
Meanwhile, up to news time, Sylvan Reid, Councillor for the Salt Spring Division had not been charged.
Reid has been described as one of the major facilitators of the scam.
